Not all family's roots are planted long term.  Some people are highly mobile people.  For instance, Military Families, school students or other special family circumstances may find it difficult to store or even collect a year's supply of food storage.   While this does not release them from the obligation of food storage and self-sufficiency, it can make it a trial.  Some families have weight restrictions when moving furniture- such as in the military and food storage may not always be something that you are even allowed to bring with you.  Here are a few suggestions to help you continuously rebuild your food storage as you re-establish your household often.

 

*Each payday, add about $10 dollars for some extra foods.  You can try the $5 per week plan.  You can also buy enough food for 3 dinners.  Here is a quick example:

 

Dinner 1

1 package spaghetti noodles
1 can/jar spaghetti sauce
2 can vegetables
1 gallon water /or juice /or box of powdered milk

 

Dinner 2

2 large cans hearty stew
1 package corn muffin mix
2 cans vegetables
1 gallon water/ or juice/or box of powdered milk

 

Dinner 3

1 bag rice
1 large can cream of mushroom soup
1 can peas
1 can tuna/or chicken
(The top ingredients added together make a casserole)
1 gallon water/ or juice/or box of powdered milk

 

 

If money is tight and the thought of beginning again is overwhelming, focus on 72 hours.  Not necessarily the 72 hour kit, but at least enough nutritious meals and drinks for you and your family for 72 hours.  When that is done, move to 72 more.  Take it down into bite size pieces. 

 

Last, but not least, remember that its better to have some food storage sufficient for a few months than to have no storage at all.
