72 Hour Medical Needs and Kit

 

Each medical kit should be tailored to fit our families individual needs.  The medical portion can be kept either with the rest of the kit or separately in a small container (fish tackle box, small cooler, etc)  Be sure that each item is in a waterproof bag or box.  The following is a suggested list for an emergency medical kit.

 

72 Hour Emergency Medical Kit

 

1. Minor Wounds

Rubbing alcohol
Hydrogen peroxide
Ointment cream
Iodine
Epsom salt
Cleansing soap
Petroleum jelly
Band-Aids
Cotton Balls
Cotton Swabs (Q-tips)
Tweezers

 

2. Major Wounds

Bandages- Ace, gauze, cotton, triangular, dress
First Aid tape
Safety Pins for bandages
Scalpels and sterile blades
Scissors

 

3. Insect Bites

Baking soda- for neutralizing
Anti-itch cream

 

4. Discomforts

Pack the medicines that your family uses regularly to relieve these discomforts:
Head- ache, congestion, sore throat, eyes, fever, chapped lips
Body- Gas, diarrhea, vomiting
Skin- Itching, cuts, bruises, rash

 

5. Miscellaneous

Dental Floss
Insect repellant
Markers
Matches
Pencil and paper
Small games
Small toothbrushes
X-acto knife with extra blades
Allergy medicine or other unique needs
