Mother Daughter Book Club

We support homemakers and share ideas needed for
maintaining your home with articles, crafts, recipes and ideas
in hundreds of categories!

Purpose: To share a love of literature with your daughter while getting to know each other as individuals.

*A book club is a natural extension of the untold hours we spend reading to our children when they were/are young.

*It is a chance to have quality time with your daughter.

*It creates an opening for more communication and helps to nurture your bond as mother and daughter.

What to do...

First, Name the club together. Once a month get together with the other members of the club to talk about a novel that you read. A good size group would be about 5 mother/daughter couples.

The hostess daughter serves the snacks related to the book topic.

You can dress up in costumes or clothes similar to what was worn in the book.

Everyone should have an equal and respectful voice.

Here are some of the good things that can come from sharing this experience with your daughter:

*Daughter's learn that their opinions are just as equal as their mothers'.

*The girls will relate more openly when issues are not obviously related to themselves.

*Examining the issues in third person removes some defensiveness and promotes learning and understanding.

*Daughters develop good communication skills and become very good at analyzing situations.

*The girls learn that mothers have had experience similar to their own.
