A Review of 10 Essential Foods

By Cherie Ward

Written by Lalitha Thomas, this shows all the promise of her first book 10 Essential Herbs.  My first thought was, "Ten essential foods?  That seems so limited.  How would she pick 10?"  But, I was impressed with her knowledge and writing style, so I gave it a try and have not been disappointed.

The book begins with a general nutrition primer.  I feel it is really written in such a way as to require no prior nutritional knowledge.  But it is also entertaining and informative enough that even if you have done a lot of research it still provided additional information and an enjoyable read.

The book is a down to earth approach to nutrition with practical information and recipes to help you get started integrating these foods into your diet, (if you don’t already eat them) and how to get your kids to like them too.

Some of the foods listed are: grapefruit, which varieties are the best, etc.  Broccoli, sea vegetables, carrots, and flax are among the other categories Lalitha has chosen to address.

My advice would be, if you are confused by conflicting nutritional messages out there, read this book.

A Public School Mom Without Guilt
By: Shiloah Baker
From the first day that my first born child Cailynn was born I agonized over the decision of whether or not to homeschool my children.    I have lain awake in bed many nights, even many recently, over whether or not it was right for me to do this.  I think part of my great pull and desire to homeschool stemmed from the ...more
