Preparing and improving the quality
of the soil is a constant project. The poorest soil, with patience and
diligence, can be converted into a fertile productive soil. If possible,
and if soil has not been plowed or tilled for a garden, plow if first- deeply.
Then till it with a good tiller. If no plowing is available, till soil
increasing depth a little at a time. If you cover this freshly tilled soil
with leaves, grass clippings, clean kitchen waste (lettuce leaves, peelings,
etc, no animal products) and water down and let lay fallow, it will rot and
compost into the soil and break it down. Adding cow or horse manure, etc.
and tilling it into the soil enriches and feeds needed nutrients to provide
healthy growth of seeds or plants place in the garden. Adding to the soil
is a constant procedure. It will improve the soil to a point you will see
productive yields constantly increase because of the soil enrichment.
