Easy To Grow Beets

©1998

Beets grow very well in hot environments and demand little attention.  Naturally, the looser the soil, the bigger the size of the beet.  However, young small beets are more tasty than larger beets.

When sowing, try to space them a little bit and thin when the beet is about an inch to 1/2 inches in diameter.  They pickle very easily and are easy to store.  Save the tops for waste into the garden to replenish the soil.

You will find that nothing much bothers beets insofar as insects are concerned.  The best beet to plant is the Perfect Detroit Red

Soaking the seeds overnight will speed up germination of this slow germinating seed.
