Instructions For FHE House

Instructions For FHE House

Materials Needed:

Piece of wood

 1 ˝” heart

Six 1” hearts

Six pieces of Velcro (small enough to fit under 1” hearts)

3” welcome wood cut out

Hanging materials

Paints in desired colors

Carbon copy paper

Light colored paint pen

Black Sharpie marker

Wood glue

1)      Draw house pattern onto wood. You will have to add in the roof on the sides, which is just rounded. Cut wood out.

2)      Paint the house in off white or white or any other light color you wish.

3)      Paint hearts. When dry, write family member’s names on the 1” hearts and write The ____________ Family on the 1 ˝” heart.

4)      Trace the windows, door, and roof outline onto house.

5)      Paint the roof whatever desired color you wish, hunter green, navy, blue, burgundy, mauve, beige, etc. Then add a contrasting (lighter if your roof is dark, dark if your roof is light) color to the outside edge of the whole roof (shading).

6)      Paint window box and door whatever desired color you wish.

7)      Outline door and window with black Sharpie. If your door is a dark color, you won’t need to outline.

8)      Use 1” hearts as a guide and write the various FHE assignments on the roof using the paint pen. (Lesson, activity, prayer, music, snack, scripture) If you have 2 additional family members, use the windows and write assignment in the flower box.

9)      Paint bushes under each window. Dry brushing works well for this. Add flowers with the opposite tip of paintbrush.

10)  Paint heart in the middle of the house (any color, but usually looks good with the contrasting color from roof).

11)  Write on top of the heart in the middle of the house Family Home Evening

12)   Glue 1 ˝” heart with family name on it onto the door.

13)  Place Velcro on the backs of the 1” hearts (I put the soft part on the hearts). And place the other half of the Velcro on the roof in one of the designated areas.

14)  Paint WELCOME sign and glue it centered above the door.

15)  Once all this is done, install hanging hardware on the back of the house.
