Okay, I know this is going to sound “weird” and possibly
funny to some people, but I do my best thinking in the shower. Yup, right there
in the hot water and the quiet. I think that is the key…quiet. With two young
kids running around and having screaming as a favorite pastime I rarely have a
quiet moment during the day.
Anyway, that is off the subject but the reason
that I mention it is because for a few weeks I had been pondering a way to get
my house more in order and what I would have to do to get it that way. You see, my
house, I am sad to say, is in complete chaos; I can never have anyone over on a
“whim.” Often I look at it and become totally overwhelmed with what needs to
happen that I decide to go out and look around instead of staying home and
working in the mess.) So one day I am in the shower, remember where I do my
thinking, and the way to keep my house clean came to me. Surely this is a
message from heaven.

First, I need
to do some house cleaning almost every day. I hate this “revelation”, but
it is true. I do not want to spend all day cleaning because to get my kids to
nap I have to drive them in the car, this way I also get to shop in peace while
they are sleeping in the double stroller. I took the number of rooms in my
house and divided them by the number of days that I wanted to clean. It
goes something like this. I have 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms (my husbands
office is the 4th, but I refuse to clean that), a
kitchen/dinning room and a living room/craft area. Now, let’s say that I want to
clean just 5 days a week (this doesn’t include the dishes that “should” be done
everyday) and have off the weekends. So now I decide what day to do what. Now
to get this to work I have to do the cleaning before I reward myself by going
out. So now my schedule of house cleaning looks something like this:
