How To Clean Your Room

For the kids....

Suggestions: You can print this list out each time its time to clean the room and you child can check off the things as they go along.

You can print it out and laminate it. Then use a china marker for the child to check off each item.

 

¨ NOTE: include your closet in all steps that apply.

¨ Pick up and throw away all trash.  Empty trash can.

¨ Change sheets if needed and make bed.  Put dirty sheets in laundry bag.

¨ Sort clean clothes from dirty ones.  Put clean ones away; put dirty ones in laundry bag. 

¨¨Take laundry bag to laundry room for washing.

¨ Put away all reading material, tapes, and CDs.

¨ Put toys away, all parts of the same toy together.

¨ Put away items that go in a different room than yours.  You may put items in cubbies if they belong to another person.

¨ Make sure that clothes are in the correct drawers and are hung neatly in closet.

¨ Clean off all horizontal surfaces (desk top, windowsill, dresser, nightstand, bookcase, etc.)

¨ Put away anything that is left out on the floor.

¨ Dust with vacuum and dusting brush, feather duster sprayed with Endust, or a soft rag sprayed with Endust.  Dust all horizontal surfaces (see above) and top of baseboard, picture frames, and display items.

¨ Vacuum with power attachment on the carpet, then go around the edges with the hose only.

¨ Check for and clean dirty doorknobs, windows, door frames, etc.

¨ Look around at the job well done and make sure you haven't missed anything, then proudly show the results to a parent.
