Slushy And Smoothie Recipes

Here are a couple of "slush" recipes,  followed by a few Smoothies recipes.  (My parents gave us a Smoothie maker for Christmas, and it's the only way I can get my 2 yr. old to eat fruit!)

 
 

Jell-O Slush

 
1 large pkg. Jell-O (any flavor)
1 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
4 cups milk
2 liters of 7-Up (or any lemon/lime soda)
juice of one lemon
 
Dissolve jell-o in boiling water.  Add sugar and stir to dissolve.  Cool slightly, add milk.  Stir well.  Freeze for at least 8 hours in plastic container.  Remove from freezer 1- 1 1/2 hours before serving.  Chop up and beat with a mixer to form a thick slush.  Add lemon juice.  Fill cups half full with slush, and 1/2 full of 7 -Up.
 
Banana Slush
 
5 ripe bananas
1 (6 oz) can frozen orange juice
1 (46 oz) can pineapple juice
4 cups sugar
4 cups water
7-Up
 
Blend bananas in a blender.  Mix with orange juice.  Add pineapple juice and mix well.  Mix sugar and water together and add to the banana mixture.  Freeze until solid.  Fill cups 1/2 full of frozen mixture.  Fill cups rest of the way with 7-Up.
 
Basic Smoothie
 
1 8 oz container of strawberry (or any flavor) of your favorite yogurt
1/2 (8 oz) tub of Cool Whip~ thawed or frozen
1 cup chopped fresh or frozen strawberries, or any other fruit.
 
Place yogurt, whipped topping and fruit in blender.  Blend until smooth.  Serve. Add ice cubes as needed to reach desired consistency.
 
Paradise Smoothie
 
1 can (15.25 oz) Dole Tropical Fruit salad
1 cup plain or vanilla flavored yogurt
1 cup Dole Paradise blend juice
1 banana
1/2 cup ice cubes
 
Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor.  Blend until smooth

 

Orange Blossom Smoothie (from Jamba Juice)
 
12 oz. orange juice
3 cups vanilla frozen yogurt
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup peaches
1/2 cup bananas
1/2 cup ice
 
In a blender, mix in order: orange juice, frozen yogurt, strawberries, bananas and ice.  Blend until smooth.
 
Orchard Peach  (from Hogi-Yogi)
 
10 oz. peach juice
2 scoops vanilla yogurt-frozen
1/2 cup peaches
1/3 banana
1 heaping cup of ice
 
Blend ingredients in order.  Blend until smooth.  Fruit may be frozen or fresh.
 
Raging Raspberry (Hogi-Yogi)
 
10 oz. Raspberry juice
2 scoops raspberry sherbet
3/4 cups rasberries
1/3 banana
1 heaping cup of ice
 
Place ingredients in blender in order given and blend until smooth.  Fruit may be frozen or fresh.
 
 
Jungle Mist (Hogi-Yogi)
 
10 oz peach juice
2 scoops pineapple sherbet
3 strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/3 banana
1 heaping cup ice
 
Place ingredients I order listed and blend until smooth.  Frozen or fresh fruit may be used.
 
Yogi Berry (Hogi-Yogi)
 
12 oz raspberry juice
2 scoops vanilla yogurt (frozen)
3 strawberries
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup blackberries
1 heaping cup ice
 
Place ingredients in blender in order listed. Blend until smooth.  Use frozen or fresh fruit.

 

Banana Pineapple and Mango Smoothie
 
3 cups fresh orange juice (not made from frozen concentrate)
2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
2 cups fresh or frozen non-sweetened mango chunks or slices
2 cups frozen banana chunks( 2 medium bananas)
sugar to taste
 
Place ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. 
 
Caribbean Passion
 
Passion-mango fruit juice to taste
Fresh strawberries to taste
fresh peaches to taste
orange sherbet to taste
1 cup crushed ice

Beth's Homemade Chicken Soup

 Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and add the pasta. Simmer over medium heat until the pasta is cooked, about 15-20 minutes.
Serve with bread and salad. This rarely if ever gets wasted at our house! It's WONDERFUL on a wet, cold day!more
