Ways To Eat Cottage Cheese

by: Shiloah Baker

Growing up, my family ate a lot of cottage cheese.  My mom loved to get creative with ways to eat it aside from the obvious lasagna.  Here are some things we did and things my friends have shared with me that they do!

Enjoy plain cottage cheese with fresh cut chives.

My friend Beth eats it with blueberries and pecans!

I grew up eating cottage cheese with peaches!  mmm!

My friend Dawn introduced me to cottage cheese with mandarin oranges.  This is a new favorite!

From Our Readers:

We always ate what we called "Glop". This was a carton of cottage cheese mixed with a large pkg. of orange Jello (powder), tub of whip cream, and drained crushed pineapple! Yum!

Cottage cheese with shelled sunflower seeds.

I have two ways of eating cottage cheese:

One way is to cut up tomatoes and stir it in with the cottage cheese and then add pepper.
Another way is to stir together 1/4 cup of applesauce with a little more than a fourth cup of cottage cheese.  After hearing about the applesauce, it sounded kind of nasty and looked that way too!  But, it was really good and had a sweet taste for something so healthy.
